Mega evolution changes a pokemon's appearance and increases its strength temporarily during battles.
You need a keystone inside your inventory and the correct megastone equipped to your Pokémon, then you can evolve after you enable it (keystone icon on the bottom right, next to your 4th move) and select a move inside the battle.
